The Senior Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with HR Management in supporting designated geographic regions. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, project management, learning management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action and employment law compliance as well as other duties assigned by immediate Supervisor. The Senior Human Resources Generalist is also responsible for driving operational efficiency and compliance, as well as cultivating a productive, professional, friendly, and respectful work place.
Administers various human resource plans policies and procedures for all organization personnel; assists in the development and implementation of the same, composes/ maintains employee data, documents and employee handbooks for compliance.
Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training.
Manages assigned special projects by clarifying project objectives; setting timetables and schedules; conducting research and developing and organizing information for program management.
Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed. Explores opportunities to add value.
Maintains human resource information system records, compiles analytics and reports on trends as needed. Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data.
Delivers HR training to local management teams and employees as necessary.
Perform benefits administration, including claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefits information to employees.
Supports as necessary recruitment efforts for all exempt and nonexempt personnel; as needed, conducts new-employee orientation program; writes and places job postings in appropriate media channels to ensure the right talent is selected to align with business requirements.
Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation changes; enforcing adherence to requirements as well as advising management on needed actions.
Supports safety programs by ensuring inspections; reporting statistics as required; advising managers and employees in federal and state safety compliance.
13. Provide informational updates to all employees such as new hire announcements, or changes in policies or procedures that affect employees.
14. Assists managers with performance management of their employees through the performance appraisal system, performance improvement programs, and training and development plans.
15. Identifies training and development needs by consulting with managers and employees and offering programs through learning channels
Maintains employee confidence and protects the organization by keeping information confidential.
17. Acts as a liaison between employee and management to answer questions or concerns
Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems. Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals.
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Works to develop positive relationships with employees to promote communications and foster confidence in the Human Resource team.
Supports any investigation process as necessary
Perform additional duties as assigned by immediate Supervisor.
Requirements, minimum education level, and experience:
A Bachelor’s degree and five to seven years of HR experience, or a Master’s degree in HR Management with three years to five years of experience in the HR field, or any similar combination of education and experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
Proficient in HRIS systems (preferably Ultimate Software or similar SaaS)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
Ability to effectively analyze and assess employee training and development needs.
Ability to collect and analyze data, make decisions based on all relevant information, build recommendations and solve problems based on data collected; strong analytical/decision making skills required.
Ability to use spreadsheets, KPI’s or other tools to analyze data.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) required.
Exceptional time management/project management skills necessary to prioritize and manage multiple, complex projects, potentially with conflicting priorities; ability to react quickly in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Keen ability to develop, plan organize communicate, and execute.
Ability to provide on-the-job support and technical guidance as required.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Broad knowledge and understanding of HR transactions and procedures to enable review of accuracy and completeness of documents/data.
Strong Knowledge of employee recruitment and employment principles, procedures, standards, and documentation.
Knowledge of employee/labor relations principles, policies and procedures.
Knowledge of practices in the areas of human resources, retention, strategic planning, wage and salary.
Strong critical thinking skills; ability to synthesize and interpret complex issues and to create integrated solutions and recommendations.
Ability to identify and implement effective solutions to complex human resources issues in compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
High standards of ethics and integrity and strict adherence to confidentiality standards.
Results Oriented – Concentrates energy and attention on getting things done.
Physical Requirements, Work Environment and Travel:
Ability to frequently sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time.
Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision & depth perception.
Ability to perform moderate lifting, 15-30 pounds, open filing cabinets and bend or stand/sit as necessary.
The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions, which provide protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes as well as possible adverse weather conditions when traveling.
Some local and out of town travel may be required.
